Jupiter ASScending

Image
Last week I had pretty much nothing to do, so I decided to have a film-filled day. I went to the cinemas and firstly watched ‘The Imitation Game’ and it was just awesome, compelling story amazingly tied together with interesting characters, played by wonderful actors, it was a true masterpiece. But we’re not here to talk about that movie, we’re here because of ‘Jupiter Ascending’. I went into this Imax 3D screening to watch what I thought would be the Wachowskis’ big film since the Matrix, and oh Gods, how was I mistaken. Let’s not start this in bad note, so shall we talk about the good things, yeah? ( x ) So there we have Jupiter Jones, portrayed by Mila Kunis, a russian immigrant who moved to the United States still as a child, and now clean houses together with her mother and aunt to help their family. Only, she also happens to have the same genes in the exact same order of the late Abrasax’s matriarch, being then the reincarnation of such. The Abrasax House is the alien fa...

Best Films Of 2014

Image
2014 was a great year when talking about films. We had some we all knew would be awesome - Days Of Future Past -, some we weren't too sure about but turned out great - Winter Soldier - and some we really had no hope whatsoever but surprised us - Guardians Of The Galaxy-, so, let me talk you trough some of my personal favourites. During the first Trimester of the year, we had awesome films released such as " Boyhood ", " The Lego Movie ", and " Captain America: The Winter Soldier ". When I first watched the Lego film, it didn't hit me, apart from the fact that the song got stuck in my mind, but after a while - somehow - it just grew on me, and now it's definitely one of favourites of the year. But even after that, The Winter Soldier is still the best film from this first trimester, actually it is the best film from this entire year. Marvel Studios just took the film to brand new level. Captain America - just like Superman - is one of those ...

5 Short Films To Watch This Christmas

Image
1. Frosty The Snowman ( x ) "Don't cry, Karen, Frosty's not gone for good. You see, he was  made out of Christmas snow and Christmas snow can never  disappear completely. It sometimes goes away for almost a year at  a time and takes the form of spring and summer rain. But you can bet  your boots that when a good, jolly December wind kisses it,  it will turn into Christmas snow all over again." "Yes, but... He was my friend." 2. How The Grinch Stole Christmas! ( x ) "They're finding out now that no Christmas is coming! They're just waking up,  I know just what they'll do. Their mouths will hang open a minute or two,  then the Whos down in Whoville will all cry, 'Boo Hoo.'" 3. Mickey's Christmas Carol ( x ) "Tell me, spirit, what's wrong with that tiny lad?" "Much, I'm afraid. If these shadows remain unchanged,  I see an empty chair where Tiny Tim ...

5 Scary Films To Watch On Halloween

Image
Since Halloween is almost here, I decided to list a few of my favourites scary films for fun night in. If you're anything like me, you're probably not doing anything on Halloween but that does not mean the "Halloween Spirit" isn't in you. So, why not have a fun and scary night in with a few friends and/or family! 5. The Blair Witch Project " I'm scared to close my eyes, I'm scared to open them " One of the most classic horror films of all time. If I'm correct it was the first film in which the internet had a major part in promoting it, like by sharing the real story that inspired the film; Since it was promoted as a true story. It is a found footage kind of film and it's absolutely terrifying. The film follows a trio of young film students investigating and filming a documentary about a famous local legend: the Blair Witch. They get lost in the woods, and that's when the nightmare starts. Telling you anything past this point ...

I Spit On Your Grave

Image
I went to Renata's house the other day, and we wanted to watch a horror movie. So we logged in Netflix and this title caught our attention. The plot synopsis said "In this horror remake, young writer Jennifer has her life shattered by a vicious rape. Now, the thugs responsible will face an excruciating fate". I had heard many people talk about how great this movie was and everything, so, why not? I could lie and say that I'll try to make this spoiler free and everything, but I can't. So... ~~~ START OF SPOILERS ZONE ~~~ First of all, this movie is one of the most incommodious movies to watch EVER. Mainly because it's a 108 minute movie with 50 minutes of rape scenes and the other 50 with torture scenes. So, yeah, it is a extremely uncomfortable movie to watch. The first 10 minutes made me almost burst out of agony. I mean, we all know she's getting raped, and I just wanted it to be over soon, so we could get to the actual movie, but apparently h...
